In 17th century, The statue of Lord krishna was moved from Vrindavan, to save from the rage of Mughal King Aurangzeb. The cart of Lord Shrinathji struck at Sinhar village. The Priest traveling with shrinathji realised that Lord Krishna want to stay here, and accordingly a haveli was built, now known as the famous temple of Shreenath ji. The town was renamed as Nathdwara, means "Gateway to Lord"
